Mission
Afghan Clinic is a health education initiative by and for Afghans dedicated to promoting the wellbeing and agency of Afghan people.
Objectives
To create health education materials that are sensitive to the language and cultural needs of Afghan people.
To create novel public health methods that promote the strengths, wellbeing, and autonomy of the Afghan people.
To conduct and disseminate research that promotes health among Afghan immigrants.

Our Founders
Nazineen Kandahari, MD, MS, Founder and Executive Director
Nazineen is from Herat, Afghanistan. Nazineen received her MD from UCSF and both her MS and undergraduate degrees from UC Berkeley. She is now completing residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at UNC-Chapel Hill. Nazineen has an extensive background working with immigrant communities and conducting research.
Nilufar Kayhani, Founder and Project Manager
Raised in a family of Afghan refugees, Nilufar developed a commitment to addressing health inequities affecting displaced and marginalized communities. Nilufar received her bachelors in public health at the University of California, Berkeley. Nilufar founded Afghan Clinic during her time at UC Berkeley with her sister Nazineen. Nilufar is now pursuing a Master’s in Global Health and Population from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
